Ha Ha - Move to Europe! (Slaps knee!). Sorry that was cruel. Really though, we need to get something going on as the premiums for health insurance move outside the realm of affordability. I am an isurance agent, but I also need to keep my own family insured just like you. For me, insurance premiums mean the car with 100,000+ miles keeps on keeping on … just a little longer. But as premiums rise, the payment starts to cut into other things besides my new car budget….it cuts into where I can live, grocery buying decisions, etc….it really starts to smart! Also, the price of health insurance cuts into sales. I have other articles on keeping insurance as affordable as possible by making practical decisions on the type of health insurance you purchase, but with older people, and those with health challenges, even those tips do not help enough.

I have a dream! Honestly you’d think that national health care reform would be an insurance agen’ts nightmare, but I disagree. I can still find plenty of stuff to ’sell’, and that’s not what it’s all about for me. I think a basic level of health care security - like Medicare for seniors and disabled people - is necesary for an advanced society. I will still have plenty of opportunities to serve my clients with supplements (like Medicare supplements), and proably more opportunities with a whole new set of clients!
