Do You Need Cheap Homeowner’s Insurance?

O.K., I’ve certainly been in this situation. I had 5 days to find homeowner’s insurance on a home purchase. Balanced against my need to get a policy in force very fast, was a strong desire to find a reasonable premium rate. Beyond that, I really did not understand homeowner’s insurance as well as I did other types of policies, so this type of insurance was not my strength. What I have always found is, the more you understand a type of insurance, the better able you will be to find the right type of coverage at a reasonable price.

Lucky for me I had an agent that was willing to do a little work for me. If you don’t have an agent like that, find a qualified, local homeowners agent on the internet!  She gave me choices for homeowners deductible, counselled me to get insurance at replacement value, and found some discounts I would not have known about. For one thing, I did bundle in my auto insurance premium which game me a home and car discount! The discount for a home and car insurance discount was substantial!

Whatever you do, be sure and compare home insurance quotes. I am telling you, I found prices that were twice what I ended up paying by comparing insurance.
